The Miami University baseball team welcomes Milwaukee to town for a weekend series. While originally scheduled as a four-game set, it has been reduced to three games after Friday's game was canceled due to weather concerns. The series will begin on Saturday with a doubleheader. The first game is at 1 p.m. and the second will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The first pitch for Sunday's finale is 1 p.m.
ABOUT MILWAUKEE
The Panthers are 1-11 on the season. They have played a tremendously challenging schedule, including games against Power Five schools such as Illinois, Wake Forest and Oregon. Their lone win this season was over then 17th-ranked Wake Forest, 8-6, on Feb. 15. Last weekend they were swept in a four-game series at Oregon, but did not allow the Ducks more than seven runs in any of their games. Milwaukee's top hitter this year has been junior outfielder Zach Nogalski. He is hitting .372 with six RBIs. Sunday's projected starting pitcher Matt McCarty has been impressive as well. While he holds a 0-1 record in his three starts, he features a 3.60 ERA and has held opponents to a .190 batting average against.
SERIES WITH MILWAUKEE
Miami and Milwaukee have split the only two meetings the two schools have had. On March 26, 2000 in a doubleheader in Oxford, the RedHawks took the opener, 8-2. The Panthers rallied to earn a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.
UP AHEAD
After a 14-inning classic last Tuesday, Miami travels to Wright State this upcoming Tuesday (March 10) for a rematch against the Raiders at 3 p.m. The RedHawks then host Penn State for a three-game series that will begin on March 12. Thursday's game is at 6 p.m., Friday's game is at 5 p.m. and Saturday's finale is at 1 p.m.
