The RedHawks’ short program score of 64.49 was their second highest of the season.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Miami's senior synchronized skating program opened the US Synchronized Skating Championships with one of its top short program scores of the season on Friday evening.
The RedHawks scored a 64.49 in their 'Amazing Grace' free skate, a total that sits fourth in the standings through the first day of the senior competition. The Haydenettes lead the way at 73.68, followed by the Skyliners (68.45) and Crystallettes (67.59). Adrian (61.62) rounds out the team standings.
Miami's short program efforts yielded an element score of 33.98 with a component score of 31.51. Unfortunately, a fall forced a one-point deduction and leaves it needing a big free skate tomorrow to move up the standings for a chance to qualify for the International Skating Union World Championships.
The competition concludes on Saturday with the collegiate free skate starting at approximately 4:54 p.m. The senior free skate begins at around 7:04 p.m.
