The Miami women travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for the 2020 MAC Championships
OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's swimming and diving team travels to Buffalo, N.Y. for the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 26 through Saturday, Feb. 29.
On Wednesday, the swimmers will compete in the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay beginning at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, swimming prelims will begin at 10:30 a.m. for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. Diving prelims for the 1-mtr dive will start at 12:30 p.m. while the 1-mtr dive consolations will start at 3 p.m. Finals for all events plus the 200 free relay will commence at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, the swimmers will compete in the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast and the 100 back with prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals starting at 6:30 p.m. Diving prelims for the 3-mtr dive will take place at 12:30 p.m. Finals for the swimming events, 400 medley relay and the 3-mtr dive consolations will all be competed in the evening session.
The teams conclude action on Saturday with swimming prelims at 10:30 a.m. and finals for swimming and the 3-mtr dive at 6:30 p.m. Swimmers will compete in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast and 200 fly in both the morning and evening sessions while the 1650 free and 400 free relay will only take place during the evening session. After the competition concludes, the championship awards will be presented, starting at approximately 9:25 p.m.

The RedHawks were picked to finish fourth in the MAC preseason coaches' poll, mimicking Miami's finish at the 2019 MAC Championships. The Miami women concluded the season with a 3-6 record in dual meets, including 2-2 against conference opponents. The RedHawks finished second at both the Miami Invitational and the Zip Classic. Miami earned its most recent MAC Championship at the end of the 2012-13 season, its 17th in program history.
OPPONENT PREVIEW
AKRON: The Zips were the unanimous favorite to repeat as MAC Champions, earning all eight first-place votes. Akron went 5-1 in dual meets and a perfect 4-0 against conference opponents. The Zips did lose to Buffalo in a three-team meet with Duquesne on Feb. 1. Earlier this season, Akron beat Miami by a 186-114 margin in a dual meet.
BALL STATE: The Cardinalswere picked to finish seventh with 15 total points. Ball State finished 5-3 in dual meets this season and 1-3 against MAC opponents in addition to competing at the Miami Invitational, finishing third of the five women's teams. The Cardinals earned their MAC win against Toledo on Jan. 16.
BOWLING GREEN: The Falcons were picked to finish sixth, according to the preseason poll. BGSU was an even 3-3 in dual meets this season and 1-3 in MAC dual meets. The RedHawks beat the Falcons by a 200-100 margin in a dual meet on Jan. 18. The Falcons also competed in the Miami Invitational before withdrawing from the competition early.
BUFFALO: The Bulls were selected second in the preseason poll after a third-place finish at last season's championships. Buffalo finished with a 3-2 record in dual meets and 3-1 record against conference opponents. Miami was the only MAC team to beat Buffalo in a dual meet, doing so with a narrow margin on Nov. 2. The Bulls beat Akron and Duquesne in a three-team meet on Feb. 1.
EASTERN MICHIGAN: The preseason coaches' poll picked the Eagles to finish third, just ahead of the RedHawks. EMU finished second at the 2019 MAC Championships. The Eagles conclude this season with a 4-1 record in dual meets and a 3-1 mark against conference opponents. Miami fell to Eastern Michigan by only four points when the teams met in a dual meet on Oct. 26.
OHIO: The Bobcats were picked fifth, one spot behind Miami, in the preseason coaches' poll. Ohio finished the season with a 2-3 record in dual meets and a 1-3 record against conference opponents. The Bobcats earned their MAC win against Ball State on Jan. 25. Ohio's divers competed at the Miami Invitational.
TOLEDO: The Rockets rounded out the poll at eighth. Toledo had a 2-5 record in dual meets this season and a 1-3 record against MAC opponents, earning the victory against Bowling Green on Feb. 7-8. The Rockets competed in two meets with three teams apiece, beating Indianapolis and Findlay on Dec. 16 and Marshall and Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 8. Toledo's divers competed at the Miami Invitational.
