Tough Texas A&M Offensive Attack Spoils Opener for Miami

COLLEGE STATION, Texas— A nine-run third inning allowed No. 21 Texas A&M to earn a 17-1 win over the Miami University baseball team on Friday in the season opener for both teams.

In the batter's box, the RedHawks were paced by senior right fielder Landon Stephens, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double.

Sophomore Lawson Blackmore registered five strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work for the RedHawks.

Miami was trailing 13-0 in the fifth inning when it scored its only run. Senior first baseman Charlie Harrigan came home off an RBI groundout from junior center fielder Cristian Tejada. The RedHawks were unable to get any closer, as Texas A&M added four runs to their tally on the way to a 17-1 final.

Miami's series against the Aggies continues Saturday. First pitch is at 3 p.m. and it will air live on SEC Network+.
