Miami Drops 9-2 Decision to Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 33 Miami University baseball team kept it even with No. 21 Texas A&M through the first four innings before the Aggies were able to break it open in the middle frames to earn a 9-2 victory. The RedHawks fall to 0-2, while Texas A&M is now 2-0.

Sophomore Tyler Bosma (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Miami. Junior Logan Schmitt was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out three.

Senior right fielder Landon Stephens led the way offensively for the RedHawks, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Senior Will Vogelgesang provided a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI.

The RedHawks were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when Vogelgesang put Miami on the board with a two-out solo home run off freshman Christian Roa.

The Aggies broke the tie and retook the lead heading into the fourth inning, when the RedHawks got back on the scoreboard.  Miami picked up a run on Stephens' leadoff home run off of Roa, which brought the score level at 2-2. Texas A&M then scored seven times over the remaining five innings to break the tie and grab the 9-2 win.

The RedHawks complete their series against the Aggies on Sunday at 1 p.m. (EST). It will air live on SEC Network+.
