Miami Travels to DeKalb Wednesday

The RedHawks and Huskies face-off for the second time this season.

ON TAP: Miami (11-12, 4-7 Mid-American Conference) travels to DeKalb, Ill. to face Northern Illinois (7-14, 3-7 MAC) for the teams' second meeting of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on The Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner and watch on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT: The RedHawks fell to Central Michigan by a 99-87 margin on Saturday, despite Savannah Kluesner's career-high 35 points. Kluesner's point total is tied for sixth in Millett Hall history. Lauren Dickerson recorded her second-career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 12 assists. Abbey Hoff also reached double figures with 17 points, just one point shy of her career-high. The game was tied with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter before a sharp-shooting stretch for the Chippewas gave the visitors an 11-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. This season, Dickerson leads Miami's offense with 16.7 points per game while Kluesner leads on the boards with 8.5 rebounds per game. Kluesner (15.2 ppg) and Peyton Scott (12.6 ppg) both average double figures as well.

ABOUT NORTHERN ILLINOIS: The Huskies enter the contest with a 3-7 record in conference play after beating Bowling Green by a 92-87 margin in overtime on Saturday. NIU faced a five-point deficit with 41 seconds remaining in regulation and forced overtime with a three-pointer with 5.1 seconds to play. Courtney Woods led the Huskies with 32 points and eight rebounds while Gabby Nikitinaite and Myia Starks both reached double figures with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Woods is the lone Huskies player averaging double figures this season, leading the offense with 18.4 points per game. The NIU squad averages the fewest points per game in the MAC (65.5) but is second in rebounding offense (41.5) and averages the most defensive rebounds per game (30.6).

SERIES WITH THE HUSKIES: Miami leads the all-time series 21-20 against Northern Illinois, though the Huskies have the 13-8 advantage in DeKalb. The RedHawks won the meeting earlier this season in dramatic fashion, erasing a 14-point deficit to earn its first conference win by a 66-64 margin. Monique Esbrand had the steal and game-winning basket with just 1.8 seconds remaining after tying the game with a three-pointer one minute earlier. Esbrand was one of four RedHawks in double figures as Kluesner led the offense with 19 points and Dickerson and Peyton Scott each had 11.

LOOKING AHEAD: The RedHawks return home on Saturday for One Miami Weekend and Love.Honor.Care. Miami hosts Ohio for the 'Battle of the Bricks' at 1 p.m. as the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Tickets are complimentary to the public, courtesy of President and Dr. Renate Crawford. One basketball ticket gains entry for both basketball games.
