OMAHA, Neb. — Derek Daschke scored with just three minutes remaining in the game to put the RedHawks on the board, but the Miami University ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 NCHC decision to Colorado College on Tuesday evening at Baxter Arena. Both teams' defense kept each other scoreless after two periods of play, but the Tigers were the team to pounce first, scoring almost seven minutes into the final frame.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks continue the adventures in the NCHC Pod with a conference game on Thursday, December 17. Puck drop for the game against the Denver Pioneers is scheduled for an 8:35 p.m. (ET) start at Baxter Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 6:55 3rd (CC 1-0) | After two scoreless periods of play in Omaha, Colorado College was the one to strike first in the conference matchup. Josiah Slavin and Nicklas Andrews passed the puck among themselves in their offensive zone, using short passes to keep up with the puck. A few bodies blocked the puck in the front of the net, and Grant Cruikshank was wide open in the circle to laser it in past Kraws.
- 9:00 3rd (CC 2-0) | Miami defense got a hold of the puck behind their net and tried to cycle it in toward the right-wing, but the puck was later turned over. Patrick Cozzi was wide open for a one-timer, got it in top-shelf to increase the Tiger lead to two.
- 16:33 3rd (CC 3-0) | The RedHawks pulled Kraws for the extra attacker to get back into the game when the puck was turned over at their blue line for Ben Copeland to shoot it into the open net.
- 17:08 3rd (Miami 3-1) | Miami won a couple of puck battles in front of Colorado's net when it bounced onto Daschke's stick for him to shoot it top-shelf, giving the RedHawks a little life with time still on the clock in the 3rd period. Matthew Barbolini and Monte Graham were both credited with assists on the only scoring play from Miami.
- 18:28 3rd (CC 4-1) | After Miami scored, the RedHawks were still pushing to take the game into overtime and pulled Kraws for an extra attacker. Colorado College did what they did previously and shot the puck into the empty net to increase their lead and guarantee them the win.
- The RedHawks were outshot by Colorado College 30-18.
- Ben Kraws saved 24 of 26 shots for a .929 save percentage giving the RedHawks a chance for a good duration of the game.
- Miami killed off all three of their penalties, including a 5-on-3 in the first period.
