Akron's Hot Shooting Too Much For RedHawks

Dae Dae Grant scored a career-high 16 points in the loss
OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team fell 81-60 on Tuesday evening at Millett Hall as the Akron Zips connected on 14-of-24 three-pointers. The loss moves the RedHawks to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in MAC play. Akron improves to an 11-7 overall record and is now 5-1 in conference.
Freshman Dae Dae Grant recorded a career-high 16 points to lead Miami. Elijah McNamara chipped in with 11 and Mekhi Lairy added nine. Nike Sibande's six points moved him into 15th overall in Miami scoring with 1,299 points.
As already mentioned, Akron made 14 triples in the victory and was 30-of-57 from the floor.
Akron opened the contest on fire from deep, connecting on 5-of-7 three pointers in the game's first seven minutes. Grant kept Miami in the game, scoring the team's first nine points as the Zips led 20-11 with 12:55 left in the first half.
Akron's hot shooting continued following the media timeout, drilling back-to-back triples to extend its lead, 26-11. At that point, the Zips were 8-of-12 from long range midway through the first half. Akron would take a 43-24 advantage into halftime.
Akron outscored the RedHawks 38-36 in the second half.
Miami returns to action this Saturday at 2 p.m. with a home tilt versus Eastern Michigan.
