Four Former Student-Athletes Recognized with the 18 of the Last 9 Award

OXFORD, Ohio – Four alumni of Miami athletics have been recognized on this year's 18 of the Last 9 Award list. Amanda Grandjean (swimming & diving), Alisha Jones (track & field), Kelsey McHugh (track & field/cross country) and Brandon Smith (hockey) have been recognized as members of this year's list.
The 18 of the Last 9 Award is an annual award that recognizes 18 outstanding alumni who have graduated in the last nine years. The alumni are brought back to campus to connect with current students, staff and faculty.

Grandjean ('13) was a member of the swimming and diving team. She helped the women's team to its most recent MAC Championship in 2012-13.

Jones ('10) was on the track & field team while at Miami. She ranks eighth in program history in both the 400m hurdles (1:00.23) and the javelin throw (123-7).

McHugh ('10) was also on the track & field and cross country team. She was a three-time Academic All-MAC selection for cross country and two-time selection for track and field. McHugh was named Second Team All-MAC in both 2008 and 2009 and concluded her career being named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2010.

Smith ('10) was a member of the hockey team, suiting up for 60 games during his RedHawk career. He won the Scholar Athlete Award in 2009-10 after being a nominee in 2008-09 and was voted the Steve Cady Most Improved Player in 2008-09. Smith posted eight goals and nine assists in his career. He was part of the first two Frozen Four teams in program history in his final two seasons.
