
Miami Student-Athletes Continue to Excel in Classroom

The athletic department registered its 16th-straight semester with a GPA above 3.0.
OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University's student-athletes put together yet another tremendous year in the classroom for the 2018-19 academic year.
Over two-thirds (67 percent) of the RedHawks' 517 student-athletes notched a GPA above 3.0, including 37 who notched a perfect 4.0 GPA this semester. The RedHawks collectively recorded a 3.20 GPA for the spring.
"This achievement is a testament to so many things: the tireless work of our Academics staff and learning specialists, the wonderful support of our faculty, as well as the commitment of our Athletics coaches, staff and administration through the mission of Graduating Champions," Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Compliance Brad Corbin said. "Ultimately, it boils down to the grit and determination of our student-athletes. To continue this academic streak in the midst of a historic athletic season speaks volumes about the kind of student-athletes we have here."
Overall, 15 Miami teams posted a cumulative spring GPA above 3.0, led by the women's cross country team's 3.63 figure. Other squads with a GPA over 3.0 were soccer (3.54), synchronized skating (3.52), women's track & field (3.50), women's swimming and diving (3.45), field hockey (3.42), softball (3.42), women's basketball (3.36), volleyball (3.35), hockey (3.27), tennis (3.19), men's track & field (3.15), golf (3.13), men's swimming & diving (3.11) and men's cross country (3.10).
The student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA for the spring are listed below. This is the 29th-straight semester that Miami student-athletes posted at least a 3.0 GPA.
