OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's basketball team fell 76-54 to Northern Kentucky on Tuesday night at Millett Hall. The RedHawks fall to 4-4 overall while the Norse improve to 6-3.
Dalonte Brown led Miami with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Mekhi Lairy and Dae Dae Grant each had nine points. NKU's Dantez Walton led all scorers with 32 points.
Miami opened the contest on an 8-2 run, all due to Brown. The Toledo, Ohio native drilled a triple on Miami's first attempt of the game and added three more moments later from the free throw line. He capped his solo run with a breakaway dunk, forcing a NKU timeout.
Miami got as close as 16-15, but NKU closed the half on a 13-7 run to take a 29-22 advantage into the locker room.
Grant scored seven-straight points early in the second half to get Miami within 33-31 with 14:30 to play, but once again the Norse answered with a run of their own, extending their lead back to 44-35.
Miami would get no closer.
The RedHawks return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7 with a trip to Evansville. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
