OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's basketball team has its final game before the holiday break as it welcomes Bradley to Millett Hall on Saturday. The game is the RedHawks' annual Heroes Day, where members of the military, veterans and all first responders will be welcomed and honored. Tip time is 2 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner.
DIFFICULT NON-CONFERENCE: Bradley was the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Champion last season and made a trip to the NCAA Tournament. It will be the sixth time in 12 games that the RedHawks will face a regular season or conference tournament champion from a season ago. Each one of those teams played in a postseason tournament a season ago.
GRANT SETS CAREER HIGH IN REBOUNDS: Freshman guard
Dae Dae Grant had a solid performance against third-ranked Louisville on Wednesday, finishing with seven points. He also brought home a team-leading and career-high eight rebounds to go with three assists. His play has really picked up the last four games. In those contests Grant is averaging 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 22.0 minutes per game.
ABOUT BRADLEY: The Braves made a Cinderella run to the NCAA Tournament last season after finishing tied for fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference. They have parlayed that momentum in a strong non-conference performance this year as they are now 8-3 on the year. They have won three in a row, including a dominant, 81-51, victory over Georgia Southern in their last game on Sunday. Bradley wins on defense, holding opponents to 62.4 points per game. Three players average in double figures for the Braves, led by junior forward Elijah Childs. He records 14.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
THE SERIES WITH BRADLEY: This is the first meeting between Miami and Bradley.
MIAMI VS. MISSOURI VALLEY: Known for its runs in the NCAA Tournament (including Loyola's Final Four journey two seasons ago), the Missouri Valley Conference is made up of 10 schools located in the middle part of the United States. Miami is 22-22 all-time in games against the current members of the MVC. While the RedHawks have never faced Bradley or Northern Iowa, they are 5-12 record against Evansville, 1-1 vs. Drake, 4-1 vs. Illinois State, 3-4 vs. Indiana State, 4-1 vs. Loyola (Chi.), 2-1 vs. Missouri State, 2-1 vs. Southern Illinois and 1-1 vs. Valparaiso.
UP AHEAD: The RedHawks will take nine days off for the holiday break. Miami returns to action on Monday, Dec. 30 with a its final non-conference game before Mid-American Conference play begins.
