OXFORD, Ohio - Fresh off its first win of the season, the Miami University men's basketball team returns to Millett Hall on Saturday to host Alabama A&M. Game time is at noon and it will air live on ESPN3. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner.
CELEBRATING MIAMI: TRIBE AND UNIVERSITY: Miami Athletics is proud to host the inaugural "Celebrating Miami: Tribe & University" week, highlighting the unique partnership between Miami Athletics and the Myaamia Center on Miami's campus. This partnership stems directly from the relationship between Miami University and the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. For more information on this relationship please click

At all home games this week, Miami student-athletes will be paying tribute to the partnership with different uniform elements. For men's basketball, the team will be unveiling brand new uniforms with the inclusion of the Myaamia Heritage Logo.
LAIRY DISHES IT OUT: One of the main pieces that needed to replaced from last season's team was
Darrian Ringo and his uncanny ability to find the open man. While it is definitely a full team responsibility, sophomore guard
Mekhi Lairy showed that he can take a lead role as he dished out a career-high eight assists in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday. His previous career high had been four assists against Evansville on Dec. 30, 2018. The team effort to sharing the ball has been paying off so far as well. The RedHawks are averaging 14.0 assists per game in two games this year after averaging 10.9 per game last season.
ABOUT ALABAMA A&M: The Bulldogs are 0-3 on the season. They have played a difficult schedule on the road so far and dropped an 85-53 decision to Cincinnati in their last game on Thursday. Alabama A&M has been led by freshman guard Cameron Alford. He is averaging 12.7 points per game. Another key player has been freshman guard Garrett Hicks. He is averaging 10.0 points per contest. Former Miami guard Carl Richburg (2007-09) is an assistant coach with the Bulldogs.
THE SERIES WITH ALABAMA A&M: This is the first meeting between Miami and Alabama A&M.
MIAMI VS. SWAC: The Southwestern Athletic Conference is one of two Division I conference made up entirely of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The SWAC consists of 10 schools all located in the South. Given the distance between Miami and these schools, the RedHawks have limited history playing this conference. Miami is 3-1 all-time against current members of the SWAC. It is 1-0 vs. Jackson State, 2-0 vs. Grambling State and 0-1 vs. Texas Southern. In addition to Alabama A&M, the RedHawks have never faced Alabama State, Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State (although they will for first time on Dec. 15), Arkansas Pine Bluff, Prairie View A&M or Southern.
UP AHEAD: Miami remains at home as it welcomes Central State to Millett Hall on Wednesday. The game has a special start time of noon and will feature free parking along with $1 tickets. It will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner.
