OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team (6-4, 2-0 MAC) starts the week's slate with a neutral-site contest against Towson on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Miami finishes the week with a home game against No. 20 Wake Forest on Sunday at noon.
The RedHawks and Tigers will play in Houston, Texas, marking the first NCAA-sponsored field hockey game in the state.
Miami's home game on Sunday is the annual pride game.
The RedHawks earned two shutouts last week, one of which came in conference play. On Friday, Miami handed Appalachian State its first shutout of the season, winning 2-0 on goals from
Lexi Silver and
Leonor Berlie. On Sunday, the RedHawks shutout Davidson 1-0 as Berlie scored the lone goal of the game less than a minute before halftime.

ABOUT TOWSON: The Tigers enter the week with a 1-8 record and have yet to play a conference game this season. Towson's win came two weeks ago against La Salle, by a 3-1 margin. Last weekend, the Tigers fell to Rider by a 4-1 margin and were shutout by Bucknell 3-0. Freshman forward Samantha Aljets leads the Towson offense with two goals and six assists for 10 total points this season.
SERIES WITH TOWSON: Miami and Towson have met just once previously, with the RedHawks earning the 4-0 shutout in 1994.
ABOUT NO. 20 WAKE FOREST: The Deacs hold a 4-5 overall record and a 0-1 record in ACC play at this point of the season. Wake Forest is on a three-game win streak entering this week having beaten No. 15 Stanford and Northeastern last weekend, each by a 3-1 margin, after shutting out No. 13 Liberty the previous weekend. Wake Forest faces No. 6 Louisville this Friday before traveling to Oxford. Sophomore midfielder Laia Vancells leads the Deacs offense with three goals and four assists for 10 total points. Senior goalkeeper Isla Bint has only allowed 1.39 goals per game and has two shutouts.
SERIES WITH WAKE FOREST: The Deacs own all five of the previous meetings in the series. In 2017, Wake Forest won by a 4-1 margin and was ranked 11
th at the time.
Neely Lochmoeller had the RedHawks goal, deflecting a ball into the cage during the 23
rd minute of play.
UP AHEAD: Miami returns to conference play with a game at Kent State next Friday at 1 p.m. The RedHawks then host No. 8 Virginia next Sunday at noon for international student appreciation day.
