MUNCIE, Ind. - The Miami University men's basketball team heads 90 minutes down the road to Muncie, Indiana as it takes on Ball State Tuesday. Tip time is 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast of the game will be available on the RedHawk IMG Sports Network Tunein App.
NEW LINEUP COMBINATIONS PRODUCE RESULTS: The RedHawks used some new lineup combinations throughout the contest against Akron that helped them earn their first MAC victory. In the second half Miami found success with a lineup of
Darrian Ringo,
Jalen Adaway,
Milos Jovic,
Dalonte Brown and
Bam Bowman. That combo was on the floor for 9:16 during the contest, longer than any other combination in the game. It outscored the Zips 23-14 and scored an average of 2.48 points per minutes. Another successful lineup combination featured Ringo, Adaway, Jovic,
Precious Ayah and
Elijah McNamara. In the 2:55 they were on the floor they outscored Akron, 8-0, averaging 2.74 points per minute.
BOWMAN DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Junior
Bam Bowman had his first double-double of the season and second of his Miami career with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Zips. It was the first double-double by any RedHawk this season.
ABOUT BALL STATE: The Cardinals are 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the MAC. They are coming off an 83-72 win at Central Michigan in their last game on Saturday. A strong offensive team, Ball State is averaging 81.8 points per game and is hitting 50.1 percent of all its shots taken during the season. The Cardinals have three players averaging in double figures. Leading the way is redshirt senior guard Tayler Persons. He averages 17.1 points per game. Redshirt junior forward Tahjai Teague averages 14.9 points and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds per contest, while redshirt junior guard K.J. Walton averages 14.5 points per game.
THE SERIES WITH CARDINALS: The RedHawks hold a 63-40 lead in the all-time series with Ball State. Miami has been dominant with a 34-12 lead in games played in Oxford, but the series is tied at 24 in contests played in Muncie. Last season, on Jan. 20, 2018 in Oxford, the Red and White pulled away in the second half for a 71-53 victory.
Darrian Ringo scored 21 points, while
Logan McLane finished with 20. As a team, the RedHawks recorded 15 steals in the game.
UP AHEAD: The third annual One Miami Weekend is up next weekend. As part of the celebration of Miami University's faculty and staff the RedHawks will host Bowling Green at 3:30 p.m. inside Millett Hall. It is part of a tripleheader that day that will start with the women's basketball team facing Kent State at 1 p.m. It concludes at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena at 7:05 p.m. when the hockey team faces Colorado College.
