OXFORD, Ohio - For the first of back-to-back weekends, the Miami University track and field team will travel to Bloomington for Indiana University's Gladstein Invitational from Jan. 18-19.
The RedHawks competed in their first full-squad meet last weekend at Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational, where several Miami athletes put up standout performances. The twin brother duo of Sean Torpy and Christopher Torpy continued their All-MAC form from the course to the track in the 800m as Sean grabbed second and Chris took sixth. Sean's time of 1:49.65 is the second-best mark recorded nationally so far in the 2019 indoor season. Olivia Bechtel put together an outstanding performance on the women's side, finishing fifth in the 400m. Carly Davis (3000m), Bradley Davis (3000m), Aaron Muresan (60m hurdles), and Jeremiah Hunter (60m) were the 'Hawks other top-ten finishers.
The weekend agenda will begin Friday afternoon on the field with the weight throw, pole vault and triple jump while the evening track schedule includes the 5000m, 3000m, mile, 400m, 60m, and 60m hurdles. The meet will get an early start Saturday morning as the long jump, high jump, and shot put close out the field schedule. On the track, the 800m, 600m, and 200m will run and the meet will conclude with the 4 x 800m and 4 x 400m relays. The full, detailed schedule is linked above.
Next week the 'Hawks will make a return trip to Bloomington for the IU Relays. That event will run Jan. 25-26.
