RedHawks Travel to Play Two Ranked Opponents

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team travels to Northwestern's campus to play a pair of games this weekend. On Friday, the RedHawks face off against No. 9 Northwestern at 1 p.m. ET. Miami then plays No. 24 Boston University at Northwestern on Saturday at noon ET.

The RedHawks won two of three games in California last week. On Thursday, Miami beat Pacific by a 3-1 margin. The RedHawks shut out UC Davis on Saturday 2-0 before dropping a 1-0 decision at California on Sunday.

OPPONENT PREVIEW

ABOUT NO. 9 NORTHWESTERN: Northwestern beat Kent State on Tuesday to improve to a 3-2 record to start the season. The Wildcats' two previous wins came in double overtime against Stanford and Boston College. Senior midfielder Puck Pentenga leads Northwestern's offensive attack with four goals, four assists and 12 points total this season.

SERIES WITH NORTHWESTERN: The Wildcats have won 13 of the 14 previous games against the RedHawks. In 2014, Northwestern beat Miami in the second game of the season by a 5-1 margin. Northwestern was ranked No. 14 at that time.

ABOUT NO. 24 BOSTON UNIVERSITY: Boston University dropped both contests to ranked opponents last weekend to bring them to an even 2-2 record to begin the season. Most recently, the Terriers lost to No. 22 Ohio State 4-2. Sophomore forward Ailsa Connolly and senior back Ally Hammel lead Boston with eight points apiece.

SERIES WITH BOSTON UNIVERSITY: The Terriers have won all four previous meetings with the RedHawks. In last season's faceoff, Boston University won by a 3-1 margin. The Terriers were ranked No. 16 at that time.

UP AHEAD: Miami opens conference play at Ball State next Saturday at noon. The RedHawks then play at No. 22 Ohio State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
