Miami Athletes of the Week

OXFORD, Ohio – For her performance last week, junior middle hitter Margaret Payne is the Miami Female Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 20-26.
Payne earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational this past weekend. She was the RedHawks' leading hitter with 13 kills, an average of 2.69 per set. She made only seven attack errors in 66 attempts for an impressive hitting percentage of .424. Payne contributed at the net with nine total blocks in the three matches. She put down nine kills in helping lead Miami to sweep of Saint Louis. She finished with 12 more against UCSB. In the five-set victory over Cincinnati, Payne had 14 kills and had a .480 attack percentage for the match. She scored 40.5 points over the weekend, an average of 3.12 points per set.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Payne has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week.
There is no Male Athlete of the Week this week due to no men's team's being in action.
With Labor Day next Monday, the next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
