Dankovich, Goble, Harper, Mason, Mayers and Sargent Comprise Hall of Fame Class of 2018-19
Miami University Athletics will honor six outstanding individuals this fall as it inducts the Hall of Fame Class of 2018-19 the weekend of August 31 and September 1. Comprising the 50th Hall of Fame Class is Lisa Dankovich '87 (volleyball), Ted Goble '68 (men's swimming & diving), Kelly Harper King '99 (women's swimming & diving), Chet Mason '05 (men's basketball), Melissa Mayers Alonso '99 (women's cross country/track & field) and Darrell Sargent '89 (men's track & field).

Lisa Dankovich was a three-time All-MAC selection for Miami volleyball from 1983 to 1986. She continues to hold the Mid-American Conference record for service aces in a season (99) and is the Miami record holder for career service aces (207), which currently ranks fourth among MAC leaders. A superb setter for the Red and White, Dankovich finished her career as Miami's record holder for assists and assists per game and currently ranks fourth all time in assists per game and fifth in assists. During her playing career, she helped Miami to a 95-39 record, a .709 winning percentage. Dankovich returned to her alma mater two years after graduating, going on to serve as an assistant coach for the Red and White for 16 seasons. During her coaching tenure, Miami experienced remarkable success, including five MAC regular-season titles, three MAC tournament titles and seven postseason appearances, including five NCAA Tournament berths. The 1995 team became the first in MAC volleyball history to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and finished the season with an NCAA RPI of #24 in the country. Dankovich continued her association with Miami University following her coaching stint, and currently serves as Director of University External Relations. She also is an analyst for Miami volleyball's ESPN3 broadcasts.

Ted Goble was a four-time MAC Champion for Miami men's swimming and diving from 1965-68. A three-time letterwinner, Goble captured the 500 freestyle title in 1966 and the 1650 freestyle crown in 1967. He was a part of the MAC Champion 800 freestyle relay in 1966 and 1968, anchoring the relay in 1966. Goble was a significant contributor to the team's scoring at the MAC Championships, placing among the top four in four events each of his three varsity seasons. Following his freshman season, Goble was tabbed the team's Mulliken Award winner as the most outstanding freshman swimmer and leader as voted by his peers. Noted by teammates and coaches for his incredible leadership, Goble helped propel Miami to back-to-back MAC Championships in 1967 and 1968, serving as team co-captain as a senior in 1968. It was the second and third MAC titles for the Red and White and the only time in program history Miami seized consecutive conference titles. His passion for Miami University and the men's swimming and diving program has endured since his time with the Red and White through a variety of initiatives over the years.

Kelly Harper King had an impressive career for the women's swimming and diving program from 1995-99 that culminated with MAC Diver of the Year and MAC Outstanding Senior awards in 1999. Harper became the first in program history to sweep the 1- and 3-meter events at the same MAC Championship with her wins in both events in 1999. The previous year she finished runner-up in both events at the MAC Championships. She was tabbed Miami's Female Athlete of the Year in 1999 as well, becoming just the second in program history to earn the honor. A decorated high school gymnast, Harper pursued diving in college as a walk-on to the Miami program and went on to earn a scholarship. She quickly made an impact at Miami, earning a spot to compete at the MAC Championships as a freshman and scoring points for the Red and White en route to a team conference title. Harper helped Miami to MAC Championships each of her four years. A two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, she captured CoSIDA Academic All District honors in 1999.

Chet Mason was the 2005 MAC Defensive Player of the Year for Miami men's basketball and earned NABC All-District honors as well as being named Miami Male Co-Athlete of the Year in 2005. A two-time All-MAC pick, earning first-team accolades as a senior, Mason helped spearhead the RedHawks to the 2005 MAC regular-season title and an NIT berth. He ranks second at Miami in career starts (117) and is the program's top rebounding guard, ranking fifth all-time with 806. He also ranks among program career leaders in minutes played and steals. With 1,250 points, Mason is tied for 19th at Miami. He joined Ron Harper as the only two Miami players to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, 300 assists and 150 steals in a career. Mason played professional basketball in the NBA's D-league for two seasons and spent some time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also achieved much success in the European leagues, becoming the first American tabbed MVP in the Adriatic League while playing in Bosnia. He won a pair of national titles while in Bosnia and was a three-time MVP of the Bosnia and Herzegovina League and three-time MVP of the finals.

Melissa Mayers Alonso became the first All-American in Miami women's cross country history with her 20th-place finish as a sophomore at the NCAA Championships in 1996. She became just the fourth women's cross country All-American in MAC history and owns the best finish at the event in program history. Leading up to the championships, Mayers earned All-Region honors with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Regional, what was then the third-best finish of any MAC women's cross country athlete at an NCAA Regional and the best finish in program history. Mayers, who had her career cut short due to significant injuries following her sophomore season, was a four-time All-MAC honoree, twice earning the honor in cross country and twice earning the award in track and field.

A stand-out runner for the Red and White from 1979-82, Darrell Sargent is Miami men's track and field's only indoor All-American in a running event with his fourth-place finish in the 600 at the 1979 NCAA Championships. A three-time MAC Champion for Miami, Sargent captured conference crowns in the 800 meters in 1980, the mile relay in 1980 and the 400 meters in 1982. An active record which he has held for more than 35 years, Sargent set the standard in the 800 meters with the time of 1:47.00 he established in 1980, which is nearly three seconds faster than the next-best time. Sargent also owns Miami indoor and outdoor records in the 440 yard run and indoor mile relay. During his time at Miami, he helped spearhead Miami to two MAC Championships in 1979 and 1981. Sargent was an Olympic Trial qualifier in the 800 meters in 1980, advancing to the semifinals of the trials. Sargent went on to spend time running professionally in Melbourne, Australia.
