2018 Non-Conference Schedule
OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head men's basketball coach Jack Owens announced the RedHawks' non-conference schedule on Monday. The 13-game slate features six home games, several contests against local rivals and is highlighted by a trip to Nassau to compete in the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase tournament.
The RedHawks are coming off a breakthrough season in which they won their most games in seven years and returned to the postseason for the first time since 2011. Three starters and a total of seven letterwinners are scheduled to return from that squad, where they will be joined by a couple of redshirts and some talented newcomers to give Miami its most anticipated season in some time.
Prior to beginning the 2018-19 campaign, Miami will host Taylor (Ind.) for an exhibition contest on Monday, Nov. 5. The season then opens Saturday, Nov. 10 when the RedHawks travel to the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse to face 2018 NCAA Tournament participant Butler.
"We are very excited with the non-conference schedule we were able to put together," said head coach Jack Owens. "There are five or six teams on it that are potential NCAA Tournament contenders. Playing that caliber of opponent will definitely help us prepare for Mid-American Conference play and the MAC Tournament."
Miami begins the home schedule two days later on Monday, Nov. 12 when it welcomes Midway to Millett Hall as its Islands of the Bahamas Showcase mainland game. Afterwards it is a trip out of the country for the second consecutive year as the RedHawks compete in the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase, Nov. 16-18. The Red and White will play three games over those three days. The full bracket and ticket package information will be released later this summer.
Returning from Nassau, the RedHawks will have the honor of hosting Army West Point on Saturday, Nov. 24. That will be followed by the first contest against Xavier since 2015 which will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Cintas Center.
The month of December features four home contests, beginning with Wilberforce on Saturday, Dec. 1. A trip to Wright State follows on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Miami hosts Purdue Fort Wayne (formerly IPFW) on Saturday, Dec. 8, before making its first-ever trip to the BB&T Arena to take on local foe Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 16. Non-conference play concludes with two final games at Millett Hall, against South Carolina State on Thursday, Dec. 20 and Evansville on Sunday, Dec. 30.
Season tickets are now on sale. Reserved seat season tickets are available for $185, while faculty and staff can purchase them for $155. Just like last year, a season parking pass is included for free with any season ticket purchase. Renewals are available online by clicking HERE, while new season tickets can be purchased HERE. Fans can also purchase over the phone by calling their Ticket Sales Consultant, or the Miami Athletic Ticket Office at (513) 529-4295.
While themes and individual game promotions will be announced closer to the start of the season, fans can expect crowd-favorites such as the Firecrackers, the Frisbee Dogs, Autograph Day, Carnival on the Concourse and much more during the upcoming campaign.
For the 2018-19 year, Miami has announced a new addition to Swoop's Kids Club, allowing fans to pick between a basic, $25/year package and a premium, $99/year package for young RedHawks fans between the ages of 0 and 13.
