OXFORD, Ohio -- For the 14th straight semester, dating back to the spring of 2011, Miami University student-athletes combined for a grade-point average of over 3.0, finishing this spring with a 3.18 GPA.

Overall, 68.2 percent of the RedHawks' student-athletes across all sports put up at least a 3.0 GPA. A total of 38 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA this semester.

"George Washington was known for saying, `It's better to be alone than in bad company,'" said Craig Bennett, Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services. "From our hard-working student-athletes, coaches supporting the academic mission, engaged faculty, committed learning specialist, tutors, coordinators and the athletic administration's support we are in good company to help our student-athletes graduate as champions."

Team wise, Miami was led in the classroom by the women's basketball team's 3.63 GPA. Other RedHawk squads to post a 3.0 GPA or higher include tennis (3.57), women's swimming (3.51), women's track (3.49), women's cross country (3.49), volleyball (3.46), soccer (3.44), synchronized skating (3.44), softball (3.38), field hockey (3.38), men's cross country (3.27), men's track (3.10), hockey (3.06), and men's swimming (3.04).
