OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami baseball team won its fifth-straight game in walk-off fashion Saturday evening as junior catcher Hayden Senger delivered in the clutch to hand the team a 2-1 victory over Rider.
With the RedHawks down to their last out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Senger hit a gapper to right field, allowing Dallas Hall and Cristian Tejada to score. The game-winning hit pushed across Miami's only runs of the game. Neither side scored until the ninth as the Broncs' lone tally came on an RBI single in the top half of the inning.
Red & White starting pitcher Zach Spears was solid in six innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Michael Hendricks tossed 1.1 innings in relief and fanned two in the process. Andy Almquist pitched the final 1.2 frames, allowing one run on one hit while posting three punch outs. He moved to 2-0 on the season after receiving the win.
Miami goes for the series sweep over Rider on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
