RedHawks Close 3-1 Weekend With Victory Over Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Miami baseball team finished a 3-1 weekend at the Campbell Invitational with a 8-6, 11-inning victory over host Campbell on Sunday. The win improved the Red & White's record to 5-3 on the season.
Both teams got on the board early. A Will Vogelgesang two-RBI single and a Brooks Urich RBI double had the `Hawks out in front 3-0, but a Campbell sacrifice fly and RBI groundout had the score at 3-2 after one inning of play.
Miami widened its lead back to three in the fourth with a Kyle Winkler two-RBI single that scored Mackay Williams and Carlos Texidor.
Hayden Senger recorded a RBI double that scored Ross Haffey in the seventh to extend the Red & White lead to 6-2.
The Fighting Camels rallied to score four runs in the home half of the eighth, knotting the contest at six apiece.
After leaving the bases loaded in the 10th, Miami broke through in the 11th to retake the lead for good. Dallas Hall got the frame started with a leadoff single before being brought home the next at-bat on a Haffey double to the gap in left. Haffey got to third on a wild pitch before tagging up and coming home on a Senger sac fly. Andy Almquist took the mound in the bottom of the 11th, setting Campbell down in order behind a pair of strikeouts. Cole Gnetz got the win for the `Hawks after tossing scoreless ninth and 10th innings.
Hall finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Urich also finished with a multi-hit day, going 2-for-6 with one run batted in. Everyone in the MU lineup recorded at least one hit or scored one run.
The Red & White are back at it this coming weekend when they open their home slate against Rider on Friday at 5 p.m.
