Miami University Director of Athletics David Sayler announced that Jude Killy has been elevated to Chief of Staff today.
Â
"This well-earned promotion is the result of his hard work, creativity and passion for the student-athletes that Jude exhibits every single day," said Sayler. "Jude has played a significant role in all of the major accomplishments that have occurred here at Miami during his time in Oxford and he has the respect of everyone in the department. The Killy family - his wife Beth and daughter's Jessica and Elise - are fixtures in the community and I am thankful to them for supporting Jude in his tireless work on behalf of Miami University and Miami Athletics."
Â
Killy will continue to serve as Deputy Director of Athletics in addition to his new role. He will also continue to oversee day-to-day administration of the department, Athletic Development, Equipment and the budget. He will remain the sport administrator for men's basketball, baseball and men's and women's swimming and diving.
Â
In addition, Killy is taking on administrative oversight of Miami football, management of the Human Performance and Wellness division and working with Assistant Athletic Director Liz Bath as a primary contact for human resources for the University. He will now also serve as the senior staff liaison to head coaches and will have the senior staff reporting directly to him.
Â
Since being promoted to Deputy AD in the spring of 2015, Killy has served as the campaign manager for the $80 million Graduating Champions Campaign, which is currently at $78.5 million raised and expected to close this fiscal year. He has also been responsible for negotiating contracts, such as the recently extended one with the Aspire Group for ticket sales and for the combination, unification and creation of Miami Athletics' Human Performance and Wellness division. He has overseen the process for head coaching searches, and directly led searches for men's basketball (Jack Owens), swimming and diving (Hollie Bonewit-Cron) and track and field/cross country (Tom Chorny).
Â
This is the fourth time he has been promoted since his arrival at Miami.
Â
"I am appreciative of David Sayler's leadership, vision and support – and for the additional title, responsibilities and duties," Killy said. "To continue to grow at such a special place, with such special leadership, is an honor. The intensity of our efforts is geared toward Graduating Champions each day, and winning the Cartwright Award for the best athletic department in the Mid-American Conference this past year is validation that those collective efforts are paying off. That said, we still believe the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish, and I am excited to help push that forward."
Â
Killy is a Talawanda High School graduate, as well as a graduate of John Carroll University. While at JCU, he was a member of two Ohio Athletic Conference Championship varsity men's soccer teams. He earned his master's in sports administration from Ohio University in 1998. His wife, Beth, is a Miami graduate and current clinical instructor in Accounting. They have two daughters, Jessica and Elise.
