OXFORD, Ohio - For the second consecutive season, the regular season champion Miami University volleyball team is hosting the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Millett Hall. Tourney matches will take place Thursday through Sunday. As the second seed, Miami has a double-bye to the semifinal round Saturday and will face either third seed Ball State, sixth seed Northern Illinois or seventh seed Ohio in a semifinal match at 7 p.m. With a win, the RedHawks will play in the MAC Championship match on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. All MAC Tournament matches will air live on ESPN+.
TOURNEY HISTORY: No matter what the seed, Miami has had a history of success in the MAC Tournament. Last year as the one seed, the RedHawks knocked off fourth seed Ohio, 3-0, in the semifinal round and swept fifth seed Western Michigan, 3-0, in the championship to win the tournament for the first time since 2007. The Red and White have won the MAC Tournament seven times overall. They have competed in the MAC Championship match each of the past two seasons and three of the past four.
20 WINS YET AGAIN: With victories this weekend, the RedHawks passed the 20-win threshold for the fifth consecutive season. It ties the 1978-82 teams for longest 20-win streak in school history. It is the 21st time in program history that the team has won at least 20 matches. This will also be the third straight season Miami finishes with less than 10 losses. That is only the second time the Red and White has accomplished that. The other was from 1995-98 when Miami went four straight seasons with only single-digit defeats.
