Yacek was his usual solid self yet again for the RedHawks in four games of action this past week. The Austin, Texas, native hit a team-high .385, which included three extra-base hits, two runs scored, one run batted in and two multi-hit efforts. He also drew three walks and struck out just once. Yacek got on base for Miami in half of his chances at the plate and extended his reached base streak to 18 games.
This is the second time this season and in his career that Yacek has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He previously won it for the week of Feb. 27-March 5.
Hohman complied a terrific week for the Miami, earning three wins and a save in an undefeated week for the RedHawks. For the week, Hohman only allowed 12 hits and struck out fifteen over 19.0 innings. On Wednesday at Northern Kentucky, Hohman allowed only four hits and struck out six Norse batters in an 8-0 five-inning victory that clinched a doubleheader sweep. In Friday's Game 1 against Western Michigan, she held the Broncos' powerful batters in check, allowing only three hits in a 4-0 shutout. She struck out five of the first six batters she faced, eventually tallying a team season-high eight for the game. In the second game of the doubleheader, Hohman entered with an 8-6 lead and finished off WMU with a two-inning save that clinched a comeback victory. The righthander completed her outstanding week with a third complete-game victory, an 11-3 run-rule win over Western Michigan that sealed a series sweep.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Hohman has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week.
