Hockey
Last Week: The RedHawks (9-16-7, 5-12-5-3 NCHC) played a pair of spirited games at No. 2 Minnesota Duluth. On Thursday, Miami erased a 2-0 second period deficit on the strength of goals by Jared Brandt and Grant Hutton to leave the score tied at 2-2 after 40 minutes. After UMD scored an early power play goal in the third, Carson Meyer tied the score at three apiece with 10:45 left. Another Bulldog power play goal with 1:21 left put them back in front and they withstood a furious RedHawk rally attempt at the end to hold on to the 4-3 win (RECAP). Friday's finale saw Miami yield the first goal again, but Brandt and Hutton once again scored in the middle stanza to put MU on top 2-1 after two periods. The Bulldogs scored two goals in a 3:09 span to go on top 3-2 midway through the third, but Gordie Green found the net with 3:25 left to force overtime. After going down as a 3-3 tie, Green scored in the 3-on-3 overtime to give Miami two of three NCHC points (RECAP). This Week: Miami plays its final home games this season when it hosts defending national champion North Dakota on Friday and Saturday. MU will honor seniors Justin Greenberg, Anthony Louis and Colin Sullivan prior to Saturday's regular season finale.
Women's Basketball
Last Week: Miami (10-19, 4-12 MAC) hit the road for two games last week, beginning at Akron on Wednesday. Lauren Dickerson and Kendall McCoy poured in 17 points apiece to lead the 'Hawks to a 66-62 win over the Zips (RECAP). In a Saturday Battle of the Bricks matchup at Ohio, the RedHawks could not keep pace with a hot-shooting Bobcat team as MU fell, 77-63 (RECAP). This Week: The Red & White close out their home schedule by hosting Kent State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Miami will then head to Bowling Green to wrap-up the regular season with noon tip on Saturday.
Synchronized Skating
Last Week: All three teams made their way to Rockford, Ill., to compete at the U.S. National Championships this past weekend. On Friday, competing in the senior division short program, the senior team finished in third place with a score of 59.65 while the junior squad was ninth with a 41.18 (RECAP). Saturday saw the senior team finish in fourth in the free skate and overall while the junior team finished ninth in the free skate and overall. The collegiate team was the highlight of the day as they finished with a silver medal in the collegiate division free skate (RECAP) This Week: The competitive season is now over for all three synchro teams.They will all be back in action next at the Annual Spring Ice Show, Apr. 28-29.
Baseball
Last Week: The RedHawks (0-7) were swept in a four-game series at USF in Tampa, Fla., this past weekend. Friday's game was a 5-1 decision in favor of the Bulls, with Miami's lone run coming on Ross Haffey's second home run of the season (RECAP). Saturday's doubleheader saw the RedHawks start the day by dropping a 7-2 game in the first contest of the day before losing a heartbreaker in game two. With MU sitting one strike away from a complete-game shutout, USF hit a two-run homer to tie it before a walk-off single ended it and gave the Bulls two victories on the day and the series win (RECAP). The Red & White's cold start at the plate continued into Sunday when they dropped an 11-2 result (RECAP). This Week: Miami gets to stay in Oxford next weekend as they welcome Illinois State to town for the first its first home series of the season. Friday represents the team's home opener, a 6 p.m. first pitch.

Last Week: Miami (10-19 overall; 3-13 MAC) dropped its final two home games last week. In a game headlined by the teams trading runs, Miami came up one big run short as they fell to Ohio, 79-62 Tuesday night. (RECAP) On Saturday, the RedHawks were unable to climb out of an early hole in a 70-54 loss at the hands of the Bowling Green. (RECAP) This Week: The regular season comes to a conclusion with a pair of road contests. On Tuesday, Miami travels to Akron for a 7 p.m. tip that will air on Spectrum Sports and ESPN3. On Friday, it's the second "Battle of the Bricks" in as many weeks as the RedHawks head to Ohio. That game will feature a special tip time of 6:30 p.m. and will be nationally broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
Softball
Last Week: Miami (5-8) went winless in the Carolina Classic at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. On Friday, the RedHawks were unable to control Marshall's base running and power hitting, falling to the Thundering Herd, 6-1. (RECAP) The first game of Saturday's doubleheader began promisingly against hosting UNC as Miami chased the Tar Heel starter early and sophomore first baseman Johniann Wahl homered to make it 6-0 in the fourth. The RedHawks held a 7-2 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, but a furious rally gave the Tar Heels an 8-7 victory. In the nightcap against Hampton, Miami quickly ran out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but a four-run fourth inning turned the lead over to the Pirates. Despite sophomore Shannon Hohman's three-run homer in the seventh, the RedHawks were unable to complete the comeback and fell 7-5. (RECAP) In Sunday's finale, Towson used back-to-back home runs in the fifth to secure an 8-0 victory that was completed after five innings. (RECAP) This Week: Miami remains on the road for the San Diego Classic next weekend at San Diego State University. The RedHawks will face five opponents (SDSU, Oregon State, BYU, San Jose State, Boston University) over the three-day event.
Women's Tennis
Last Week: Miami University's women's tennis team wrapped up a busy Sunday after a double-header where they topped Northern Kentucky University, 6-1, and blanked Ohio Northern, 7-0, moving its record to 3-6. NKU entered today's match a player down due to injury. Miami swept the doubles competitions taking both the No. 1 and No. 2 flights to clinch the doubles point. The RedHawks showed their stuff in the singles competition, only giving up one point at No. 1 in a battle of a match where Ponomareva fell to NKU's Sunjic, (7-5, 3-6, 10-2). Sophomore Anzhelika Shapovalova tallied a hard-earned win at No. 2 when she defeated Klara Skopac (6-4, 4-6, 10-3). Badileanu blanked her opponent, Dijanezevic, (6-0, 6-0). The RedHawks returned later to defeat the Polar Bears, 7-0. The Red & White once again swept the doubles competition. In singles action, Ponomareva defeated Ashley Ochsenhirt, (6-0, 6-2). Sophomore Abby Brady grabbed her first win of the season after she downed opponent Mackenzie Wills in straight sets, (6-1, 6-2) to solidify the 'Hawks blanking the Polar Bears. Shapovalova won her match after her opponent, Lynn Kelly, forfeited. Badileanu topped Ola Latala, (6-0, 6-1). Struble won over Cummins, (6-1, 6-0). Vasiukhina also defeated her opponent at No. 5, (6-1, 6-0). (RECAP) Next Week: The RedHawks are on the road next weekend when they will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to take on Winthrop University on Saturday and Marshall on Sunday.
