
RedHawks Fall to DePaul, 83-66

CHICAGO ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" The Miami University men's basketball team made several scoring runs throughout its game at DePaul, but a season-high 25 turnovers ultimately led to an 83-66 defeat on Thursday. The RedHawks fall to 7-5 on the season, while the Blue Demons improve to 7-5.
Miami shot 41.8 percent (23-for-55) from the field, and kept the heat on DePaul by draining 13 three-point baskets. Freshman guard Nike Sibande had a team-high 17 points to go with six rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Junior point guard Darrian Ringo contributed 15 points and added eight assists. The RedHawks controlled the boards, outrebounding the Blue Demons, 39-28.

After an opening layup from senior forward Logan McLane, a triple from redshirt junior guard Jake Wright and a layup by freshman forward Dalonte Brown put Miami on top 7-2 early. Ringo drained a three from the top of the lane to make it 10-4 at the 15:04 mark of the first half. A bucket by senior forward Rod Mills Jr. made it 12-6, before the Blue Demons scored six in a row to tie the score with 11:30 to go.

A layup by freshman guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands and a three-pointer by Mills made it 17-12 in favor of the RedHawks at the 9:48 mark. Miami would go scoreless over the next 6:22 as DePaul went on a 14-0 run to take a 26-17 lead. That drought ended with back-to-back three-pointers by Sibande and Wright that pulled Miami to within three at 26-23 with 2:43 to go. Despite another triple from Brown, the Blue Demons closed the half on a 9-3 run to take a 35-26 advantage into the break.

A jumper by Sibande and a three-pointer from Ringo helped close Miami to within six at 41-35 with 15:19 remaining in the game. The Red and White had another scoring drought, allowing the Blue Demons to go on a 15-4 run to take control at 56-39.

With DePaul leading 60-44, the RedHawks had one last run in them. Mills drained a three-pointer, while McLane followed with a pair of free throws. Sibande then scored six points in a row, the last a three-pointer that finished off an 11-2 run and pulled Miami to within seven at 62-55 with 7:36 remaining.

Unfortunately that would be as close as the 'Hawks could get, as the Blue Demons answered with a 15-3 run over the next 4:41 to put the game away. Ringo and Wright drained late three-pointers, but DePaul finished off an 83-66 victory.
Wright finished with 12 points for the RedHawks. McLane and Brown led Miami with nine rebounds each. Marin Maric led DePaul with 22 points off the bench.
The RedHawks will be off the next nine days for the holiday break. Miami returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 30 when it travels to Ohio State. Tip time is noon and it will air nationally on ESPNU.
