BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Miami University track and field team completed their weekend at the Indiana Relays on Saturday. The 'Hawks placed in the top five in seven events on their second day in Bloomington.
Alexus Jimson-Miller's 8.60 in the 60m hurdles in Friday's preliminaries was good enough to qualify her for Saturday's finals. Jimson-Miller followed up last week's first-place finish in Bloomington with yet another. Her 8.48 lies just one one-hundredth of a second behind her current Mid-American Conference-leading 8.47. Aaron Muresan ran in the 60m hurdles finals on the men's side, taking fourth with an 8.31.
Miami's MAC-leading shot put duo was impressive again, with Amelia Strickler and Arionna Darling placing second and third, respectively. Strickler tossed a 53-5, while Darling tallied a 50-11.5 in her put. The men's field team was led by Grant Cole, whose leap of 23-11.75 earned him second among a very talented pool.
Miami's long-distance squad put forth two top-four efforts on Saturday. In the 3000m, David Coffey's 8:47.20 was good enough for third. Jake Brumfield placed fourth in the 5000m with a 14:57.27.
Both the men and women had solid efforts in their respective 4x400m relays. The women - comprised of Kalliopi Kountouri, Morgan Rice, Olivia Bechtel, and Emily Hooker - placed third with a 3:49.74. Jake Owens, Aaron Mursean, Vinnie Minosky, and Jordan Knapp led the 'Hawks to a sixth-place finish in their relay.
The Red and White will be back in action February 3-4 when they head to South Bend to compete in the Meyo Invitational.
