RedHawk Men and Women Split Meet with Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" Miami University's swimming and diving squad traveled to Cincinnati on Wednesday night to take on the Bearcats. The women squeaked away with a 153-145 victory, and the men fell by a score of 195-105.
Stephanie LeMire had herself a meet, winning two individual events and placing third in another. Her wins came in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.55) and 200-yard IM (2:06.77). LeMire's third-place finish was in the 100-yard breaststroke, where she clocked in at 1:04.64. Elise Campbell won the event in 1:03.64.
Emma Bradley won the 1000-yard freestyle for Miami, clocking in at 10:15.52, nearly four seconds faster than Cincinnati's second-place finisher. Peyton Mosbaugh and Morgan Quesnel came in first and second in the 100-yard butterfly. Mosbaugh won the event (56.65) with Quesnel right behind her in second place (56.83).
Ella Moynihan placed second in two events and third in one. Her two second-place finishes were in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.31) and 200-yard freestyle (1:52.95). The third-place finish came in the 100-yard freestyle (52.66).
Jenna Karrow and Taylor LeCount both picked up a win and second-place finish for themselves. In the one-meter dive, Karrow placed first (254.35) and LeCount placed second (242.55). The three-meter dive was flipped, with LeCount in first (243.05) and Karrow in second (238.90).
The men's best event came in the 100-yard backstroke, where they had a 1-2-3 finish. Jake Precious led the way (52.14), with Max Jelen (52.30) and James Wray (52.54) close behind to round out the top three.
Justin Andrews secured a win of his own in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.68. Wray placed third in the event, touching the wall in 1:55.33. Lucas Brock took silver in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 21.12, just 0.04 seconds behind the first-place finisher. He also clocked in second in the 100-yard freestyle (46.15). Nick Ward was behind him in the race, finishing third (47.09).
Three men picked up a trio of bronze finishes for the RedHawks. Ross Westrick placed third in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:44.01. Hutch Blackstone picked up a third-place finish as well in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.68). Pete Simcox finished third in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 51.54.
Miami's male divers had their most successful meet of the season, starting with a 1-2-3 finish in the one-meter dive. Sean Sargent placed first (305.40), followed by Harrison Moncino (284.75) and Ryan Nash (283.60). In the three-meter dive, Moncino came in second (318.05) and Sargent in third (315.90).
The RedHawks will be back in action next weekend. The women will compete at home against Akron on Friday, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. and at Toledo on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. The men take on Buffalo at home on Saturday, Jan. 21 at noon.
