RedHawks Close Out Competition at Black and Gold Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Miami University track and field program closed out competition at its season-opening appearance in the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational on Saturday.
The field events stole the headlines throughout the day. In the throwing circle Andrew Vollet and Zubin Coleman took fifth and sixth in the discus marking 152-3 and 151-11 respectively. In women's javelin, Danielle Collier led the way marking 140-2 for fourth place in her outdoor debut. Aaryn Gray was seventh marking 132-8 and Tessa Brooks marked 102-3 for 20th.
Women's high jump saw Jess Baker tie for first by clearing 5-5.25. Molly Balcer was fifth clearing 5-3.25. In the men's contest, Peter Stefanski finished third by clearing 6-8.75. In long jump action, Caitlyn Redmon marked 18-8.75 to finish fifth on the day. In men's action Kenny Glenn marked 22-7 to finish fourth.
In the 4x100m relay, the RedHawks combined for 47.75 seconds for 11th place in the women's race and 41.55 seconds for second in the men's race.
Zack McBride took second in the 2000m steeplechase, clocking in at 5:58.68. Matt Bromley was fourth in 6:08.10 and Jordan Rice was sixth in 6:14.84.
In women's pole vault action, Hope Turner tied for seventh clearing 11-7.75.
Alexus Jimson-Miller was the top RedHawk hurdler at 100m, taking sixth in 14.19. Fellow RedHawk Caitlyn Redmon took 17th in 14.73. Kathie Wollney took second in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.11. Morgan Rice was fifth in 1:02.99.
Action closed with the 4x400m, where the Red and White posted 3:47.37 in the women's race for second place and 3:20.27 for seventh in the men's contest.
The Red and White return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invite beginning Friday and the Miami Duals on Saturday.
