OXFORD, Ohio - In their last home meet of the season, Miami University's men's swimming and diving team took on defending MAC Champions Eastern Michigan. The RedHawks fell to the Eagles, 184-109 on Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
Seven seniors - Evan Bader, Christopher Dieter, Cole Fryman, Michael Nash, Sean Neri, Jacob Prodoehl and Davis Staley - were honored with Senior Day Ceremonies before the final home-meet for the RedHawks.
Junior Lucas Brock turned in a win for the RedHawks in the 50-yard freestyle after he clocked a season-best time of 20.85, edging out the Eastern Michigan competition by over half a second. Fryman took first in the one-meter diving competition, tallying an impressive 344.37. Nash was the next nearest RedHawk in third place.
Miami had two top-finishes in the 200-yard butterfly with sophomore Ross Rybakowicz in second (1:53.78) and freshman Robert Newman in third (1.54.08), respectively. Bader had a solid showing in the 200-yard breaststroke, securing second place with his time of 2:06.86.
To wrap up the last home meet of the season, the RedHawks took to the water for the 400-yard freestyle relay. Miami finished second place thanks to the efforts of junior Jack Strauss, Brock, Prodoehl and Dieter, clocking a combined time of 3:06.4.
The RedHawks divide and conquer next weekend when a portion of the team will attend the Ohio State Invitational, Feb. 12-13, in Columbus, Ohio while another portion of the squad will travel to Muncie, Ind. to compete against Ball State.
