Last Week: Miami had a senior weekend to remember by sweeping Colorado College with a pair of shutout wins. The RedHawks struck for a goal in each period in Friday's 3-0 victory over the Tigers, with Kiefer Sherwood getting things started on the power play in the first. A five-minute major gave CC an extended power play in the second, but it was Taylor Richart who found the net for a short-handed goal and his first of the season to stake MU to a 2-0 lead. The penalty killing was strong in the third, killing off four more CC power plays, including one more major penalty, and Jay Williams made 18 of his 31 saves in the third to post his first shutout of the season (Recap). Richart found the net again in the second period to hand Miami a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes in Saturday's Senior Night finale. The score remained tight until a dominant third period by the RedHawks saw them score three times and outshoot the Tigers 22-10. Kevin Morris added some breathing room with a power play goal midway through the third and Sherwood struck a minute and a half later to put the game away before Anthony Louis capped the scoring with an empty net tally. Williams turned away 24 more shots for his second-straight shutout as Miami moved back above .500 (15-14-3) for the first time since Nov. 7 (Recap).
