Junior Team Finishes Eighth at National Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Moving up one spot in the final standings, the Miami University junior synchronized skating team finished eighth among a 13-team field at the U.S. National Championships. The RedHawks amassed a combined score of 112.24.
Skating their long program to a Disney villainess theme, the RedHawks posted a score of 73.23. Miami had one fall and recorded a program component score of 43.65 and an executed element score of 30.58.
Chicago Jazz won the junior division with a total score of 166.87. Skyliners finished in second with a score of 164.08 followed by Lexettes (156.31), Fond du Lac Blades (142.27), Starlights (130.91), Hockettes (130.68), Team Delaware (115.19), Miami (112.24), Crystallettes (108.77), California Gold (106.31), Synchroettes (105.81), Rose City Crystals (67.18) and Silver Stars (54.59).
Miami’s senior team will be back in action on Saturday evening for the free skate competition, while the RedHawk collegiate team goes for its 12th-consecutive national crown on Saturday afternoon.
