Bader Earns Academic All-District Honors

OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University junior swimmer Evan Bader (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 Men's At-Large First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday afternoon.
Bader, a breaststroke specialist for the RedHawks, owns a 3.99 grade-point average and is a double major in chemical engineering and chemistry. In the pool, Bader accounted for 48 points at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships, helping Miami to a fifth-place finish in the 400 medley relay, while notching a sixth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke and a 10th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. During the season, he propelled Miami to first-place finishes in the 400 medley relay twice and notched a pair of top two finishes in the 100 breaststroke.
He is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and has twice been named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week during his three-year career. Bader is a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Fraternity.
As a first-team Academic All-District honoree, Bader advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The men's at-large team is comprised of student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
