MUNCIE, Ind. -- After posting just six points over the first two days at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, the Miami women's track and field team posted 18 points on the final day of the conference meet Saturday.

The RedHawks finished 10th in the final team standings with 24 points. Akron won the competition with 142 points, followed by Eastern Michigan (128.5), Kent State (124), Northern Illinois (107), Central Michigan (69), Western Michigan (53), Toledo (52), Buffalo (51.5), Bowling Green (48), Miami, Ohio (11) and Ball State (9).

Leading the way on the track were Alexus Jimson-Miller and Megan Beaver, who both notched third-place finishes to contribute six points apiece to the RedHawks' team total. Jimson-Miller narrowly missed her personal best in the 100m hurdles by crossing the line in 13.71 while Beaver finished her 800m finals in 2:11.11.

Also adding to Miami's point total was Laura Bess, who claimed fifth in the 1500m with a time of 4:31.02 along with the 4x400m relay team of Jimson-Miller, Emily Hooker, Kathie Wollney and Morgan Rice, which took seventh in the race with a season-best time of 3:45.66.

The RedHawks have a couple competitors whose season could continue at the NCAA East Region prelims May 28-30, which take 48 individual competitors in each event. Amelia Strickler is essentially a lock to qualify in the shot put as she ranks sixth in the region in that event. Jimson-Miller also has a shot at qualifying as she ranks 51st in the 100m hurdles and could make it if a few ahead of her do not declare.
