HAMILTON, Ontario—After a relatively low-key morning that included breakfast and time for study tables, the afternoon was action packed for the Miami University senior synchronized skating team on a extremely rainy Day Two at the ISU World Championships.
The RedHawks had two 20-minute practice sessions with their first practice of the day in the early afternoon at the same practice arena they skated in Tuesday, which is about 15 minutes away. The RedHawks shared a bus to the practice ring with Cool Dreams from Switzerland.
Getting its first chance to get on the competition ice at the FirstOntario Centre, Miami had its second practice session at 7:40 p.m.
In between the practice sessions, Miami and the Haydenettes—both representing the United States at this weekend’s competition—had a Team USA meeting at the hotel and exchanged small mementos.
Following the RedHawks’ second practice session, the coaching staff met with all of the coaches for the teams at the event at an ISU Coaches’ Meeting, while captains Maggie Maier, Ashley Mulhern and Jennifer Stewart attended an athlete meeting with representatives from each team.
Senior Roxanna Schmidt and head coach Carla DeGirolamo took a few minutes to recap Wednesday’s events.
Another busy day is on tap for Thursday that again includes two 20-minute practice sessions as well as the draw for the short program. Follow the Miami Athletics and Miami Skating social media accounts to keep track of the RedHawks’ week at the ISU World Championships.
