12/11/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
A two-time All-MAC selection and the fifth all-time leading scorer for Miami men's basketball, Damon Frierson '99, propelled the RedHawks to MAC regular-season titles in 1997 and 1999 and a MAC Tournament crown in 1997. Leading Miami to three postseason appearances during his career from 1996-99, he was a key component on one of the greatest NCAA Tournament runs in program history as the 1999 RedHawks reached the Sweet 16. He owns the single-season record for minutes played (1,201) and ranks among MU statistical leaders in seven single-season categories (games started, minutes played, points, field goal attempts, free throws, free-throw attempts and free-throw percentage) and 11 career lists (games started, minutes played, points, field goals, field goal attempts, assists, steals, 3-point field goal attempts, free throws, free-throw attempts and free-throw percentage). Frierson is part of Miami's top scoring duo with Wally Szczerbiak, finishing his career with 1,644 points.
Frierson is one of seven members joining the Hall of Fame this weekend. He is joined by Colleen Day '04 (women's basketball), Bob Gardner '78 (men's tennis), Jill Kohrs '84 (volleyball), Doug Krause '72 (football), Kirk Springs '82 (football) and Tim Winans '85 (men's swimming).
As a reminder to those planning to attend the dinner, the location was changed to the Armstrong Center to meet a high demand of attendees. More information can be found HERE.
