RedHawks Kickoff Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s men’s swimming and diving team returned to the pool Thursday with the 21st Annual Miami Invitational. The RedHawks finished the day in fifth place among the six-team field.
Touching the wall in a time of 20.20, senior Joe Baumgartner earned points when took first place in the 50-yard freestyle in the A-cut finals. Sophomore Lucas Brock placed 13th with his time of 21.13 in the same event with junior Jake Prodoehl and freshman Ross Westrick close behin in 17th and 18th place, respectively.
Senior Andy Kilkenny took 15th in the 200-yard IM when he clocked a time of 1:53.6 followed by junior Evan Bader in 17th with a time of 1:54.51.
The Miami men brought home fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay led by Baumgartner followed by Westrick, Brock and Prodoehl with a final time 1:22.36. In the final event of the night, the 400-yard relay, the RedHawks took sixth with a team time of 3:22.36. Junior Sean Neri swam the lead leg with Bader, freshman Pete Simcox and sophomore Jack Straus swimming the following legs.
Entering Friday the standings are: Denison in first place with 588 points, Cincinnati with 516 points, Emory in third with 465, Wright State with 412 points, the RedHawks with 313 and Urbana bringing up the rear with 111 points.
The next session Friday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center with the night session beginning at 7 p.m. The Miami Invitational wraps up with two sessions on Saturday.
