Men's Swim & Dive Falls to Purdue

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University men’s swimming and diving team suffered a loss on Thursday evening to Purdue University with a final score of 207-92 at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
RedHawk newcomer freshman Peter Simcox earned points when he swam to a first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.63. Junior Sean Neri earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.91 followed by junior Jacob Prodoehl in a close third. Senior Joe Baumgartner brought home another first-place finish for the RedHawks in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 45.59.
Another top finisher for the RedHawks was junior Evan Bader who earned two second-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (57.68) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.7). Touching the wall at 1:55.47, junior Heshan Unamboowe placed second in the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Lucas Brock placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.37 and third in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 47.57.
Sophomore Bryan McNamara turned in a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:44.28. The 200-yard medley relay placed third with a time of 1:37.13 thanks to the efforts Neri, sophomore Matthew Rigali, senior Michael Heavilon and junior Sean DeMuro. Junior Christopher Dieter, freshman Ross Westrick, sophomore Jack Strauss, and Prodoehl turned in a time of 1:26.54 in the 200-yard freestyle relay earning them a third-place finish.
The RedHawks are back in the water, Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Nixon Aquatic Center when they host Cleveland State at 2 p.m.
