Last Week: The RedHawks competed at the MAC Tournament last week in Akron, Ohio. Miami was edged in its opening game by Ohio, 5-4, as the Bobcats scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the double-elimination tournament on Wednesday. (RECAP) After a three-hour rain delay, one of junior Jessica Simpson's best pitching performances led Miami to a 2-0 victory over Northern Illinois late Thursday night. (RECAP) On Friday afternoon, Miami picked up a gritty 4-1 win over Ball State. (RECAP) Miami was supposed to turn around to face Central Michigan Friday evening, but due to flooding Miami's game was moved to Saturday. The two teams began play at 5:30 p.m., but the weather again became a factor as the teams went in to a five-hour rain delay in the middle of the second inning. The Chippewas picked up a 4-2 win with the game finishing at 12:10 a.m. (RECAP) Miami finished its season with a 32-22 record. Senior shortstop Meghan Mawn was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team. (RECAP) Miami returned the favor on Wednesday as the RedHawks belted out six runs in the seventh inning en route to a 10-4 win over Cincinnati. (RECAP) Due to impending weekend weather, Miami and Buffalo played a doubleheader at McKie Field at Hayden Park on Friday and endured a lightning delay during Friday's first game. It was only fitting that a pair of seniors delivered in the clutch Friday to start the final weekend home series of the 2011 season. Brad Gschwind hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th in the opener and Tyler Melling struck out a career-high 11 batters during the nightcap as the RedHawks earned 4-2 and 5-2 victories over Buffalo.
