Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
On holding off Bowling Green in the end: "The fact that we got the victory today is important. How we got it, I don't know if that's as important, because how we got it, we backed in just a little. I'll take the victory."
On key players in the game: "The player of the game as far as I'm concerned is Orlando Williams. He came out today and showed us that he's got confidence. He had his best college game. He had four turnovers, but how about the couple steals he got? So to me that's courage. You been playing bad, and now you shoot 8-for-9 and 5-for-6 from the three. We couldn't have done it without him. Nick Winbush was there at the end like he always is. He got some big rebounds at the end. He blocked McElroy's shot and we finally got a stop on him. He did a good job. Quinten Rollins did a great job defensively. I'm glad to have him back."
On being in the hunt for a MAC title down the stretch: "We've won 10 league games with two games left and we were only 9-7 last year, so we still have a chance for the league crown. I really credit our guys for that. They're resilient."
On upcoming games: "Next week is crucial. Both teams [Buffalo and Ohio] we're playing are capable of winning the league tournament. We've got our work cut out for us, but I'm proud of our guys for how we got to this point."
Miami Sophomore Guard Orlando Williams
On his career-best 26-point effort: "I think the adrenaline was just rushing. I wasn't really tuned into how many points I had or how many shots I made, I was just trying to get a win and do what's best for my team. When I got the ball and I was open I just took the shot with confidence."
Miami Junior Forward Julian Mavunga
On fighting off a Bowling Green comeback at the end of the game: "They came out more aggressively in the second half but I thought we matched their intensity, especially early on. Down the stretch we kind of let up, and they took the opportunity to come right at us. We just have to make sure in the future we don't relax like that. One thing that Nick Winbush did, being the leader that he is, is tell us 'hey, we've been in this position before and we know what it feels like to let it go and it's not a good feeling.' We knew we had to really fight and come out victorious."
Miami Senior Forward Nick Winbush
"We didn't really play the best game offensively or defensively, but at this point you can't complain about winning games. We've got keep winning games to try to get the league championship."
On keeping focused down the stretch: "All we have to do is keep winning and put ourselves in a good position. We need to take care of what we're supposed to take care of."
