Sophomore guard Orlando Williams' 26 points marks the 13th time a Miami player has reached the 20-point scoring mark. Six different RedHawks have reached the 20-point scoring plateau this season: Julian Mavunga (6), Nick Winbush (2), Allen Roberts (2), Williams (1), Antonio Ballard (1), Josh Sewell (1).
Freshman guard Quinten Rollins set a career high with six steals, the most by a Miami player since Chet Mason had six against Buffalo on Feb. 5, 2006. It also ties several others for the fourth-most in a game in program history. The record is seven in a single game by Damon Frierson in 1999, Ron Harper in 1984 and Chuck Goodyear in 1976.
As a team, Miami amassed 10 steals, tying its most this season. Bowling Green, who entered the game averaging a MAC-leading 8.7 steals per game, had five steals.
For the third time this season, Miami has had two players record double-doubles in the same game. Junior forward Julian Mavunga recorded his second straight double-double and his third in the last four games, collecting his 10th rebound at the 14:48 mark of the second half after scoring in double figures in the opening half. Mavunga finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mavunga now has posted 12 career double-double and six double-doubles for the season. Senior forward Nick Winbush also recorded his third double-double in the last four games with 16 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds. Winbush also has six double-doubles on the season and eight for his career.
For the second time this season, Miami had two players score 20 points in a game with Orlando Williams recording 26 points and Julian Mavunga notching 22 points. On Feb. 1 against Ball State, Mavunga amassed a career-high 27 points, while Josh Sewell posted 20 points.
Orlando Williams was near perfect from the field. His first missed field goal of the game came at the 4:33 mark of the second half. He was 8-for-8, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range to that point. He finished the game going 8-for-9 from the field, 5-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Miami shot 56.0 percent in the first half. It's the eighth time Miami has shot 50.0 percent or better in the first half and ties for the second-best first-half field-goal percentage. Miami shot 57.7 percent in the first half against Northern Illinois on Feb. 9.
The RedHawks took their first lead of the game with 13:23 to go in first half on four-point play by Orlando Williams. Miami used a 13-2 run from 13:57-11:33 to capture a 21-12 lead.
Sophomore guard Orlando Williams amassed 14 first-half points to lead all players and spur Miami to 42 points in the opening half. Junior forward Julian Mavunga also scored in double figures in the first half with 11 points. In the last meeting between the teams on Jan. 16, Williams also led all scorers in the first half (11).
Freshman guard Quinten Rollins played in his second consecutive game after missing nine games due to injury from Jan. 23 until his return against Akron Feb. 23. Rollins played 32 minutes off the bench.
