TROY, Alabama--Despite a 40-point second-half by the RedHawks, Troy (4-3) sunk 14 3-pointers and topped Miami University's men's basketball team (2-4) 73-60 on Saturday evening at Sartain Hall in Troy, Alabama.

Senior forward Julian Mavunga recorded his third straight and 11th career 20-point game, scoring 24 points and tallying eight rebounds and three assists to pace the RedHawks. Sophomore guard Josh Sewell and freshman guard Brian Sullivan had 11 points apiece. Sullivan also had five assists.

The Trojans opened up a 15-4 lead by the 13:06 mark, powered by three treys in the opening seven minutes of the contest. After Brian Sullivan knocked down a 3-pointer to put the RedHawks within eight, the Trojans went on a 14-2 run to capture a 28-9 lead by the 8:39 mark.

Troy pushed its lead to 36-13 with 4:24 to play off the Trojans' eighth 3-pointer of the opening half. A pair of free throws by Mavunga, a 3-pointer by Sewell, and another set of free throws from sophomore center Drew McGhee comprised a 7-0 RedHawk run to close the half and leave Miami trailing, 36-20.

The Trojans sunk three straight 3-pointers in a minute to help extend their lead to 52-27 with 14:40 to play. But Miami fired back with four straight 3-pointers of its own. Brian Sullivan hit a trey, followed by buckets behind the arc from Sewell and Mavunga and another by Sewell to put Miami within 13 points, 55-42. A Harris 3-pointer with 8:43 remaining put the RedHawks within nine, 58-49.

Troy scored eight unanswered to extend its lead to 66-49 with 4:39 remaining and went on to a 13-point win.

Miami returns home for the first time in nearly a month when the RedHawks host the Wright State Raiders in the second game of a women's and men's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Dec. 10. The women tip off at 1 p.m. with the men following at approximately 3:30 p.m. Miami hockey also hosts Ohio State that night at 7:05 p.m. and all three Miami games will be televised on ONN.

NOTES: Junior center Vince Legarza saw his first action of the season after sustaining a left knee injury. He entered the game at the 12:06 mark of the first half and started the second half for the RedHawks. Legarza finished with four rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal in 17 minutes of action.
