CLEVELAND, Ohio - James Beres has been named the Mid-American Conference Diver of the Week for the week of Oct. 24-30, the league office announced. The senior from Columbus, Ohio (Whetstone High School) swept both diving events against Big Ten foe Purdue to earn his second and third wins and first MAC award of the season. This is his second-career Diver of the Week award.
Beres won from both the one- and three-meter boards as the RedHawks fell 170-127 to a Boilermaker team that was 19th in the most recent NCAA Rankings. He dominated on the one-meter, scoring 344.18, more than 47 points ahead of his closest competitor. Beres followed that up with a score of 370.50 on the three-meter to pick up his second win of the meet. He totaled 18 points for his two first-place finishes to lead the RedHawks.
Beres and the rest of the Miami swimmers and divers return to action Nov. 11-12, hosting Ohio State and Kenyon, respectively.
