Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"We took a couple bad shots; shots along the baseline and some shots that I don't even think our guys could see the rim, so those were bad possessions. Then, we gave up some offensive rebounds that we should have had and for three of them, there was no reason to [give up the offensive rebound]. We weren't boxing out and getting the rebounds. It was the exact opposite of what we were doing up at Central Michigan. "
Miami Junior Forward Julian Mavunga
"We just crumbled today. We should have had this game. When we look back it will be a game of should of, would of, and could of. It's disheartening, but we know we just have to move on and just get ready for the next game. We have Ball State coming in, which is the best team in the West [Division], and we just need to bounce back and play better. We don't have the time to make excuses. We just need to figure it out and play collectively. Everyone has to chip in and setup. This season isn't over yet though."
On missing Antonio Ballard: "It's really hard when your best player is missing, and we knew that coming into today's game. He is the guy that does everything for us and gave it everything he could. We knew we were going to be down a soldier and we needed to fill the void of missing Antonio. There isn't one person on our team that could replace Ballard; even if you combined Winbush and me, we couldn't do the things that Ballard can do.
Miami Junior Guard Chris McHenry
"We came out with a chip on our shoulder with Antonio missing, but we came out knowing we had to play and work from start to finish. We ended up getting too comfortable and let this one get away from us. Yes, our bodies were tired, but it's no excuse. We all just really need to work on hitting our shots."
On increasing playing time: "It didn't happen the way I wanted to with another player [Quinten Rollins] being hurt, but I know I need to step up and be the player and leader I need and want to be. I need to be working on my shots more, step it up offensively, and be a smarter player."
