CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Miami University junior outfielder Adam Eaton has been named to the 2010 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team, the league office announced at the annual baseball awards banquet Tuesday night at VA Memorial Stadium. Eaton garnered All-MAC honors for the second straight season, after being named to the First Team in 2009.
Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) ranked in the top ten in the MAC in eight statistical categories during the regular season, including leading the league in triples with eight and stolen bases with 30. His eight triples also tie the Miami single-season record, while giving him 17 for his career, which is a RedHawk record. His 30 thefts rank fourth in Miami single-season history.
Eaton led the 'Hawks in nearly every offensive category, including batting .369 on the year while starting all 53 games he played in (missing just one game all year). He slugged .706, also a team best and fifth in the conference. The right-handed slugger scored 63 runs, which was third in the MAC, while driving in 55, which tied for seventh-both of which also led Miami. Eaton finished the regular season with 17 doubles and 13 round-trippers, the latter of which ranked ninth in the conference. His 151 total bases tie for fifth in Miami single-season history and were fourth in the MAC while his .459 on-base percentage was seventh in the league.
Eaton also ended the season on a career-long 21-game hit streak, which he will carry into the MAC Tournament. He started off the year with a bang as well, setting a Miami single-game record with six hits against Furman Feb. 20 (second game of the season), while also scoring six runs and collecting five RBI, all career highs, with the six runs tying a MAC single-game record. He earned MAC East Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Eaton finished the regular season with 22 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI contests.
