OXFORD, Ohio - Over the course of the 2009-2010 Miami RedHawk Men's Swimming season, Dave Brown's (Michigan) performance has been nothing short of impressive.
Now, with another season successfully behind him and the academic year drawing to a close, Brown has another accomplishment to add to his list. The Mid-American Conference announced its 2010 Academic All-MAC Swimming and Diving team on Tuesday (April 6th).
Brown is among 18 student-athletes who achieved a 3.2 GPA and participated in at least 50 percent of the meets during their season.
As a senior accountancy major in Miami's prestigious Farmer's School of Business, earning at least a 3.2 GPA while still actively participating in a varsity sport is not an easy task to accomplish. Brown, who earned 18 top-three finishes during the season and was named Second Team All-MAC, made it all look easy.
Over the course of the season, Brown earned seven first-place finishes in various events, including the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. As of March 2010, Brown held the top spot in the conference in the 50 free with a time of 20.45.
At the MAC Conference Championship on March 4-7, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Brown had a very impressive run.
Brown was a member of the third-place winning 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay Teams. Two more fifth-place finishes came from the 200 Medley Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay. Individually, Brown placed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle.
With his final swim season as a RedHawk behind him, Brown has four successful years to look back on. Whether it's inside the class room, or in the pool, Brown is one student-athlete who has continued to shine.
