Miami Football vs. Ohio
October 23, 2010
Yager Stadium - Oxford, Ohio
Miami Post-Game Notes
- With Miami and Ohio both entering Saturday's contest at 4-3, it marked the first time the two teams met on the gridiron with winning records since 1997 and the first time in Oxford since 1979.
- Miami scored on its opening possession for the second time this season, as redshirt sophomore quarterback Zac Dysert connected with senior wideout Armand Robinson for a 15-yard touchdown. The RedHawks also scored a touchdown on the opening drive against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 11.
- Redshirt sophomore running back Danny Green returned his first kickoff of the year for 37 yards in the first quarter. It was Miami's second longest kickoff return of the year, as DeMarco Paine has a 41-yarder this year.
- Freshman wide receiver Nick Harwell set a new school record for receiving yards. He had 11 catches for 219 yards, topping Jeremy Patterson's record of 198 receiving yards in 1993 vs. SW Louisiana. The 11 catches match Armand Robinson's day at Florida as a season high and rank tied for fourth-highest all-time. Over the last three games, Harwell has had 25 receptions for 378 yards in the last three games after just two grabs for 15 yards in the first five outings.
- Harwell had an 82-yard pass reception in the third quarter, Miami's longest play from scrimmage this year. The play was the ninth-longest pass in school history, tying Andy Schillinger's 82-yard grab at LSU in 1986. However, Harwell lost possession of the ball at the goal line and, after review, Ohio took possession on the touchback.
- Redshirt sophomore defensive back D.J. Brown recorded his first career blocked kick Saturday in the second quarter, as he knocked down an Ohio field goal try. It was Miami's third blocked kick of the season as sophomore DL Austin Brown blocked punts vs. Kent State Oct. 2 and at Central Michigan Oct. 16.
- Redshirt sophomore quarterback Zac Dysert threw his first interception in 156 attempts in the second quarter Saturday and finished with a career-high-tying four picks, which he also threw at Florida in the season opener. He finished with 332 yards on 21-for-36 passing, His passing yards ranked 25th in Miami single-game history.
- Redshirt junior Jerrell Wedge made his first interception of the season in the third quarter, returning it for nine yards. It was his second career pick, also nabbing an interception against Ohio last year.
- The Bobcats finished with 35:21 of possession, marking the first time this year an opponent had the ball more than Miami. The RedHawks entered the game 10th nationally in time of possession
- Saturday's game served as Miami's Homecoming game. The RedHawks are 59-30-4 all-time in front of the alumni crowd.
