Senior Center Adam Fletcher
"There was a big motivating factor today to win because of the ceremony for Coach Coles. It would have been hard to celebrate something so special if we didn't have a victory at the end of the day."
"I think we got in (Brandon) Bowdry's head a little bit early on. I know he had two turnovers right away to start and the game. I know from that experience that when that happens, you start to get a little more hesitant. We were doubling him in the post early and that changed his game and his attack."
Freshman Guard Allen Roberts
On overall team rebounding:
"A lot of our focus in scouting reports is on the big men, and with today being our 3rd game in five days, we had to overcome a lot of fatigue, and be able to help our big guys get rebounds and end possessions."
"Early in the year there were some freshman jitters and I had to learn a new system on top of it. Coming from high school, you find out quickly that the college game is much more physical and that there are some things you could do there that you can't do here. Now that we've hit midseason, I think I'm getting more comfortable with playing at this level and getting better on the defensive end."
Head Coach Charlie Coles
On pre-game ceremony:
"It was a very nice surprise to have Bob Nichols come down today. I still feel like he is one of the three best coaches to ever coach in the MAC. Between his time at Toledo and my time at Central Michigan and now here, we've shared a lot of basketball throughout the years and I can't overstate how good of a coach and friend he is."
"There were three games today: the 1st half, the first 12 minutes of the 2nd half, and then the last eight minutes of the 2nd half. There was a different Miami team that showed up in each of those."
"Antonio Ballard is amazing. How many times has he come up with big hustle plays at home to get us rolling? Every game I can remember for awhile. His put-back with a couple minutes left was the biggest play of the game."
"Allen Roberts brings energy and he brings talent, and I don't mind him knowing that he dictates his own time on the floor. He gets a little ahead of himself sometimes and I have to call him over and sit him down for awhile but he's getting more consistent with doing what we need from him."
"It's tough to not play the game where you say `Boy, I wish we had gotten that Ball State game. We'd be sitting at 6-2.' Our situation now is we need to take care of our home games and find a way to steal a few on the road."
